Keeping My Static Caravan Secure

It is important to keep your static caravan secure as this will help prevent you suffering from losses and will ensure that your static caravan insurance premium is kept at a competitive rate (as you will keep any no claims bonus).

Typically, your static home insurance contract will oblige you to maintain certain levels of security in order to keep your policy valid, so make sure you understand what these obligations are and that you comply with them.

In the meantime, here are three quick tips …

  1. Anchorage

One of the most important things you must do with your static caravan is to ensure it is anchored to the ground correctly and securely. It is a condition of your policy that your static caravan is anchored securely at each corner to a firm and solid base.

You should check the anchorage of your static caravan to ensure it remains secure – sometimes these anchorages are not checked for many years and this may cause an issue in the event of claim against your static caravan insurance.

  1. Doors and windows

It is also important that you ensure the doors and windows of your static caravan are as secure as possible – there is nothing more upsetting or intrusive as arriving back at your static caravan to find out that a burglar has visited while you were away.

  1. Install an alarm

Some owners of static homes will consider installing a burglar alarm. Not only will this give you peace of mind but, typically, this may also reduce the cost of your static caravan insurance premium if you advise your static home insurance provider.
