The Lakeside Caravan Club’s new Exebridge site was officially opened last night by wildlife expert and TV presenter, Johnny Kingdom, the Western Morning News reports.
The presenter of BBC2’s ‘wildly’ successful series Johnny Kingdom: A Year on Exmoor, was joined by the club’s chairman Bob Black MBE to launch the event.
Bizarrely, Exmoor-born Kingdom began his career as a gravedigger and one-time poacher before turning his hand to wildlife filming.
The Lakeside site has finally got 80 brand-spanking new pitches after an investment of over £1 million transformed the site since its original purchase seven years ago.
Catherine Ford, head of sites marketing for The Caravan Club, said: “The overall scheme has been completed at a cost of £1.2 million showing our commitment not only to our club members but also to the local tourism economy. The redevelopment of the site meant jobs for local people, companies and contractors.”
