The Plassey Leisure Park near Wrexham has scooped Practical Caravan magazine’s prestigious award for the top UK site for caravanners of 2007.
Judges said in their magazine review that Plassey was a “stunning site” and a “worthy winner”, citing its peaceful yet family-friendly atmosphere and range of facilities.
The park boasts a nine-hole golf course, a driving range with a qualified instructor and a pitch and putt to suit any handicap. Caravanners can also avail themselves of table tennis and badminton, while for outdoorsy types, there are fishing spots and nature trails.
Site owner and managing director at The Plassey, John Brookshaw, said to the Practical Caravan publication: “We really have tried to offer a little something for everyone.”
Practical Caravan’s review said: “A long meandering drive into what appears more like the grounds of a stately home than a caravan park makes you feel you are heading somewhere special, and you are.”
No faint praise for the resort, which has already undergone a number of improvements such as the introduction of 13 new all-weather pitches and more works are planned for 2007. Not least of all, a new swimming pool, due to be completed in May this year.
