Caravan park evacuated after tanker crash

A caravan park in County Durham has been evacuated following a crash involving a propane gas tanker.

The driver of the tanker is in a critical condition in hospital after the tanker crashed over a bridge and fell 70 feet before landing on a railway line. An exclusion zone has been put in place in case the tanker explodes, which could cause significant damage to the surrounding area.

It has been reported that flammable gas is leaking onto the Weardale Railway line where the tanker landed, making the operation to remove the vehicle extremely dangerous.

This incident once again highlights the importance of having adequate caravan insurance, as you can never tell when a freak accident might occur and result in your caravan being put in danger. By taking out comprehensive caravan insurance you can relax in the knowledge that, should your caravan be caught up in a similar incident, you will not need to worry about the cost of replacing it.

Although the caravan park has not been affected yet, if the tanker was to explode the area could be in danger of fire.

While you never know when the worst may happen, it is vital to take out full caravan insurance. By taking out a caravan insurance policy with Cover4Caravans, we will ensure that holidaymakers are never left homeless.
